Noyemberyan Cooperative
The Noyemberyan Cooperative is an informal cooperative of carvers founded by a product designer and ex- Peace Corps volunteer who felt a need to continue his mission in Armenia after his Peace Corps responsibilities had ended. Some of the carvers in the cooperative are seasoned carvers thrilled to now have some means to support their families while others are gaining experience and knowledge through their interning experience. The shattered economy of northeastern Armenia makes this region very welcoming of Made in Armenia Direct's involvement to assist the inhabitants. The Noyemberyan region is more than five hours from Yerevan. There are more than 8 men in this industrious and dedicated group who are determined to improve their livelihood through their wood carving skills of Armenian crafts.
